2007年曾在广东中山呆过一年，总的感觉不错。虽然不似广州那样的繁华，但无论从人们的文明程度还是城市的规划、公共设施的建设等很多方面都令人称赞。也许是国父的故乡，自然多了一些人文的气质。整个城市干净整洁、环境清幽，公园里树木葱茏，草坪上绿草茵茵，感觉十分惬意。街道上，每隔一段就有一个直饮水机，供路人引用，真是方便。再来看城市交通，汽车站有开往各地的长途大巴，又有火车直接通往广州等地，真可谓是四通八达；白天，人们紧张忙碌，为了生活而打拼，（就连春节也不例外）工作之余的休闲生活也是十分丰富：钓鱼、健身、打太极、练剑……整个城市既不乏张力又暗引轻松、舒适这就是生活。不似大都市的堵塞、燥热也不似小乡村的落寞、沉寂，我想中山之所以被评为“全国十大文明城市”跟她的环境、设施、交通……各个方面以及当地**的一些利民**是分不开的。

后来看到了南边山岭上的破败长城，还有几座哨楼，在深厚的茅草和树木之间隐没和蜿蜒——直到1992年，才有人在长城面前竖立一块石碑，说是省级保护文物：明代长城遗址。这段长城的尽头，是山西和河北交界的摩天岭上的峻极关——十多岁时，跟着母亲到山西左权串亲戚，路过一次，但见关隘已是乱石一堆，来自左权县榻铺村的羊只在最高处吃草，咩咩而叫，浓重的骚味在风中蔓延。

其中的几个街道很是熟悉，虽然不是很长，但在我心中，它似乎就是所有城市的街道了。其中一条路叫京广路，多次听说，那条路上几乎每天都有事故发生，都有人在车轮下丧生。后来去的时候，母亲一再交待我，没事千万不要去京广路溜达啊！还有一条是太行街，东西走向，里面有市委、市政府、电影院、新华书店和邮局。在附近中学读书的时候，我还和几个同学到那里的电影院看过几次电影，都是港片。一个人到新华书店看书，去邮局邮寄东西。

后来再去邢台的时候，专门去了达活泉公园，参观了郭守敬纪念馆，占地面积巨大的纪念馆内仍旧弥漫着一种崇尚科学的清澈气息，站在郭守敬塑像前面，我忽然觉得自己很卑微——那时候，自己立志要作一个科学家，或者有点作为的政治家，而当这两项志愿在现实中逐渐破灭的时候，忽然像那些多愁善感的女孩子一样，开始喜欢文学……在郭守敬面前，我很清楚地感到了自己的狂妄、无力和羞怯——出纪念馆，一个人漫无目的地在街道上行走，从达活泉路到清风楼，穿越古式的建筑时，忽然想到，在曾经的年代，一些外来者是不是也像我一样，在这座亲近而又疏远的城市当中，一个人孤独行走，四周都是人，但没有一个可以喊出姓名，都是车辆和楼房，但没有一寸可以立足。

到邯郸火车站广场，看到“胡服骑射”雕像，想起赵武灵王，大将廉颇和名相蔺相如，或许就是这些人，使得邯郸有了一种武功与文治的厚度，也使得这座城市在很大程度上具备了穿越历史而盛名永久的潜力和资质。当然，还有把国都定在这里的曹操，虽然他的“邺城”已经淹没，但史书记载并彪炳了他邯郸的存在。当然，还有那个叫做罗敷的女子，采桑的女子，美丽的女子，被人传颂千载而始终被词语掩面的女子。
再还有“邯郸学步”、“完璧归赵”“负荆请罪”、“毛遂自荐”等典故，几乎每一个成语背后，都是一个故事，完璧归赵的机智，负荆请罪的坦诚，邯郸学步的夸张和有趣——处在邯郸，成语典故张口就是，还有胸怀大略的赵武灵王力倡改革，雄心称霸的丛台遗址、为纪念韩厥、程婴、公孙杵臼、蔺相如、廉颇、赵奢、李牧七君子而建的“七贤祠”等。到车站下车，一个人走出来，站在邯郸的大街上，心里总是惶惶的，感觉像是一只遗址贸然下落在邯郸的孤单飞鸟。

还有：所有人出行的资费都是在那么筹集的？花掉之后，会用什么样的'方法去挣呢——这些问题很奇怪，但也很实际，大致和我当时的境况有关，与个人的年龄、知识和思维有关。站起身来，从广场向南张望，大街似乎没有尽头，不断有车辆进出，感觉那条街道就像一个巨大的洞窟，时时都在吞纳。我唯一知道的是：再向南，有著名的黄河，黄河之后是郑州，郑州之后呢——上海、徐州、济南和西安……那是多么遥远的地方，我没有再想，转过身来，又回到了汽车站。
返回路上，又看到了“胡服骑射”，又联想起已经消失了的赵国，王侯与将相，雄伟或者美，都只留下一个名字和一段简略的事迹。想到美丽的罗敷，她到底成为了谁的妻子（似乎还有一个罗敷被权势者逼迫而死的传说）？路过黄粱梦村时候，想起爷爷说的吕洞宾——这个道者似乎有点好色，有关于他的传说也非常旖旎有趣——我想这个仙人是快乐的，至少少了其他仙者所刻意谨守的所谓规矩——性格和我自己有点想象。除此之外，在邯郸，当然还有太极拳一代宗师杨露禅，他好像是永年人，将身体的极限发挥到极致——重点在于独创和创新，杨露禅的这一点，是最令人尊敬和羡慕的了。
回到沙河几个月之后，我就又回到了太行山南麓的村庄，再一次来到沙河市区，却是远走他乡的第一天。那个晚上，在迎宾路的一个饭店里喝了一次邯郸的丛台酒，还有邢台的水仙花酒。第二天，启程到石家庄，看到的城市更加巍峨和幽深，但没有出站，又上了去往新疆的火车。一个小时后，又看见了刚刚离开和路过的邢台、沙河，走过邯郸，看到浑浊的黄河，咆哮的黄河，想起著名的歌曲《保卫黄河》——郑州之后，一切都是陌生的，作为终点的巴丹吉林沙漠也是陌生的——好在有足够的时间让我用来习惯。
此后多年，有几次回家，或在邯郸下车，从武安方向回到村庄，或在邢台下车，沿着熟悉的道路，看见日复一日，颜色依旧的出生地。所不同的是，对于邢台、沙河和邯郸这三个与老家最为亲近的城市，感觉完全变了，我也不是原来的那个在它们的街道上独自行走的少年了，也再不用担心吃饭会没有回家的车费……当然，看待那里的历史古迹的心情也变了。历史的薄厚只是一个城市的一个方面——它们应当是人性的和人居的，是文化的也是经济的，是宽容的也是艺术的，是每一个居者的肉体巢穴和精神信仰，也是每一个人心中，轻浅或者幽深，疼痛抑或愉悦的宗教根据地。
